The Parisian Woodland Nursery

The idea for this little girls’ nursery was to create a pretty, delicate Parisian woodland escape with a field of wild flowers as a backdrop to a magical canopy.

I designed this nursery so that it would transform into a young girl’s bedroom with ease, the focus being on objects and furnishings that would last the test of time and not feel babyish in a couple of years. Each piece of furniture was handpicked for its own sweet playful identity while also managing to feel grown up- From the honey bee side table, to the palm tree brass floor lamp.

The swoon worthy blush pink chaise longue is a mature element yet gives enough space for mum and dad to snuggle up with their little one for story time. The dramatic lush teal velvet curtains not only add a strong visual impact but are also black out lined and hung from tracks positioned on the ceiling, so when closed, the room plunges into complete darkness- perfect for a sleeping baby.

Collaborating with illustrative artist Jen Collier on the wall mural was a hugely satisfying project and allowed me to create a space completely bespoke and special for the homeowners. Jen’s playful colourful design of delicate blush pink and teal flowers and soft felt tip drawn woodland animals for me is the highlight of this space and it gives me so much joy to see the little girl, whose bedroom this is, excitedly pointing out the little creatures hidden amongst the flowers.
